Director of Operations

MUSE/IQUE is proud to announce that we are hiring a new Director of Operations.  MUSE/IQUE is a live music event, membership-based nonprofit local to Pasadena. We present concerts and education programs all over Los Angeles.  

 

The Director of Operations is a member of MUSE/IQUE’s senior staff who, in conjunction the organization’s CEO, oversees the business, financial, operational and HR aspects of the organization. The Director of Operations reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business procedures and implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations.  

 

Job responsibilities include:  

 

FINANCE 

  • Preparing financial projections, creation and oversight of budgets, tracking/reporting cashflow, preparing documentation for annual audit, 990 form preparation, oversight of accounts payable

 

HUMAN RESOURCES 

  • Oversight of payroll, benefits administration, insurance claims, workers comp audits, hiring, terminations, job postings, employment offer letters, team building events, complaints/concern intake

 

OPERATIONS 

  • IT oversight, contract negotiations, lease renewals, rental agreements

 

BOARD OF DIRECTORS RELATIONS 

  • Develop schedules, prepare reports and documents, create presentations, take minutes 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Proven experience as Director of Operations or equivalent position, preferably in the non-profit sector 

  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities 

  • Outstanding communication and people skills 

  • Ability to negotiate 

  • Great planning and project management skills 

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment 

 

This is a full-time, benefit-eligible, exempt position. MUSE/IQUE is currently working a hybrid schedule with three in-person days a week in Pasadena. Schedule will include some nights and weekends.

 

Salary commensurate with experience.

Events Coordinator

MUSE/IQUE’s events are a vital tool in celebrating and communicating what we do and why we do it. Our events give voice to the passion to bring live musical events to the community at large. We believe in the ultimate donor/member concierge service. Our philosophy is music is oxygen for the imagination. This events coordinator position is key to our success and requires a highly organized, creative, detail oriented and motivated person to serve as lead for private events and mainstage performance front-of-house planning and production.

Job responsibilities:

  • Negotiate costs and services with vendors as needed: arrange food and beverage catering, order all supplies, decorations, coordinate audio visual equipment & operation

  • Secure artists, coordinate rehearsals when warranted.

  • Organize and lead collaboration with senior staff

  • Coordinate audio equipment & operation

  • Coordinate production assistants working each event.

  • Create room layouts.

  • Manage on-site production/set up/tear down of event.

  • Document each event with archival video and photographs.

  • Assist with preparing budgets.

  • For each event, keep track of all event finances including check requests, invoicing, and reporting.

  • Prepare and modify event contracts for final approval by Director of Artistic Production.

  • Provide general support to Artistic Production, Operations, and Development departments.

  • Develop and share production one-sheets for artists, crew and staff.

  • All other duties as assigned based on MUSE/IQUE’s immediate needs

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of live music, events and/or production experience.

  • Ability to relate well and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences.

  • Excellent written and verbal skills.

  • A team player committed to developing and working within a collaborative environment and to ensuring the highest level of customer service.

Hourly wage range is $24-$27/hour, depending on experience.

MUSE/IQUE is seeking an enthusiastic and driven intern! 

EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY INTERN

MUSE/IQUE seeks an Education and Community Engagement Intern to participate in the development of educational and community partnerships and outreach through our education events and community activities. Additionally, the intern will aid in developing online/digital media programming with which we serve these communities.​​ Learn more by visiting the listing here.

2022 Arts Internship positions will be open to currently enrolled undergraduate (2 or 4-year) and community college students who reside or attend college in Los Angeles  County. Recent graduates may apply as long as they have completed their degree between May 1 to December 1, 2022. The Department of Arts and Culture encourages eligible students from all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, as well as disabled students, to apply.
