Development Manager
Location: Pasadena, CA
Reports To: Executive Vice President
Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
We are seeking a committed and skilled Development Manager to help grow our fundraising efforts and ensure long-term financial sustainability for the organization.
Job Overview:
The Development Manager will play a key role in expanding and diversifying the organization’s revenue streams through individual, corporate, foundation, and government giving. Working closely with the Executive Vice President (EVP) and senior leadership, the Development Manager will support and execute strategies to meet fundraising goals and strengthen relationships with current and prospective donors. This position will require a combination of strategic thinking, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple fundraising initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy & Implementation:

Support the EVP in creating and executing the organization’s annual fundraising plan, focusing on major donor portfolio management.

Implement and manage fundraising initiatives, including membership (in collaboration with membership staff), corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, and VIP donor care for all live music events.

Implement renewal campaigns, donor drives, and appeals, working to increase participation and donor retention.
Donor Relations & Stewardship:
-
Cultivate and maintain relationships with new and existing donors through personalized communication and stewardship efforts.
-
Coordinate donor recognition and engagement activities, ensuring donors are acknowledged appropriately for their contributions.

Manage all VIP donor care at public performances and major donor Season Afterparty, including: ticketing, seating, RSVPs, follow-up and inventory management.
Grant Writing & Reporting:
-
Research and identify potential funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
-
Write compelling grant proposals and reports to secure funding and maintain relationships with grant-makers.
-
Track grant deadlines and compliance requirements, ensuring timely and accurate narrative and budgetary reporting.
Database Management, Reporting and Accounting:

Maintain MUSE/IQUE’s Blackbaud Altru donor database, ensuring accurate records and tracking of all donor interactions.

Work with accounting vendor to process, record and audit all check, credit card and stock revenue received.
-
Prepare regular reports on fundraising progress, budget and revenue received to monitor cashflow and inform future strategy.

Generate donor acknowledgments, receipts, and other necessary communications in a timely manner.
Team Collaboration:
-
Work closely with the senior leadership team and board to help advance the development goals of the organization.

Support and collaborate with other departments, including marketing and programming, to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities.
Marketing and Communications:
-
Contribute to the creation of fundraising materials and newsletters to engage and educate the community about the organization’s work.

Help develop and implement donor communication strategies, including emails and personalized outreach.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, arts administration, communications, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or development, preferably within a nonprofit or performing arts organization.
Skills:

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling donor appeals and proposals.

Experience with donor databases (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, etc.)
-
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
-
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Knowledge of the nonprofit sector and the unique fundraising challenges faced by arts organizations.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary: $70,000 - $74,000

Work Schedule: Full-time, which includes 4 evening and/or matinee shows each month plus dress rehearsals as needed during the months of March, May, June, August, September and October in 2025; as well as the Major Donor Season Afterparty in November.

Executive Assistant & Board Liaison
Location: Pasadena, CA
Reports To: Executive Vice President
Position Type: Full-time, non-exempt, permanent employee
Primary Responsibilities:
Executive Calendar Management:
-
Coordinate and maintain the calendars for the President & CEO, Artistic Director, and Executive Vice President.
-
Ensure timely notifications of upcoming appointments, providing all relevant details and materials.
Email Correspondence:
-
Oversee email accounts for the CEO and Artistic Director.
-
Alert them to urgent or important messages, respond as necessary, prioritize emails, and ensure follow-up on key communications.
Board of Directors Support
-
Draft and prepare correspondence, memos, meeting notes, agendas, and other materials for communication between executive leadership and the board of directors.
-
Attends all board meetings and takes detailed minutes.
-
Generates agendas and other required materials
General Office Support
-
Perform basic clerical duties, including answering the phone, responding to emails, faxing, filing, and data entry.
-
Answer phone calls in a polite and professional manner, forwarding and/or taking messages as necessary.
-
Provide backup administrative support to other departments as required.

Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of progressive experience, preferably in a role supporting senior leadership.

Strong technical skills, including minute-taking, and computer software skills.
-
Excellent attention to detail, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.

Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneousl

Experience working in a nonprofit organization is preferred.

Interest in and familiarity with the arts.​

Graphic Deisgner
Location: Hybrid, remote and Pasadena, CA
Reports To: Director of Communications
Position Type: Independent Contractor
Primary Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing & Communication Manager, the graphic designer creates visuals for each season show that are cohesive and align with overall marketing, artistic, brand, and promotion goals and objectives.

Conceptualizes creative and fresh design solutions that combine contemporary aesthetic with the existing MUSE/IQUE brand identity and visual system.

Creates not only a main image, but also provides a range of customized versions in a variety of sizes to suit uses for social media, printing, web, etc.

Helps generate a color palette and advises on color application for a variety of formats including print, digital, LED screens, and projected screens.
-
Manages the entire design process, from conceptual brainstorm sessions, photo editing and treatment, design, and feedback implementation, to final deliverables.

Qualifications:
-
Minimum two (2) years of graphic design experience in a professional setting.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers, brainstorm with collaborators, and respond to feedback in a professional manner.
-
Can take written or spoken ideas and convert them into a design that evokes a strong sense of story and connects to our audiences.
-
Keen attention to detail and accuracy in work, initiative to ask for clarity or help, and willingness to incorporate constructive feedback.

Knowledge and interest in a variety of music genres and history will be helpful but not required (please see past MUSE/IQUE seasons for examples).
-
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, including the ability to work at a fast pace, adapt to changes, and solve problems as they arise.

Has strong knowledge of composition, photo editing, design aesthetic, color theory, and brand identity.
-
Expert knowledge of current design and photo editing software and skilled in every step of the design process, from conceptual to final deliverable.

Experience with a nonprofit organization is preferred but not required.

Compensation & Start Date:

The Graphic Designer may operate fully remotely.

We estimate a rate of $50/hour, to be negotiated based on the contractor’s qualifications.

We are seeking to contract one person to begin work by January 2025, to produce visual images for our 2025 season shows (6).
